Doctor of Acupuncture and Integrative Health
Over twenty years ago, Amanda first discovered Oriental Medicine when she was given the famous Chinese herbal black chicken soup for post-partum delivery. Her in-laws who were from China, had always emphasized how delicate the body is, while advising to protect it against wind invasion. Learning the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory was new to her and little did she know then that these principles would serve as a foundation for her future career.
Years later Amanda suffered from some gynecological conditions that no doctors could treat her for. As a last resort, she explored acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine and was astonished how it was able to rectify her problem.
This new philosophy of Oriental Medicine was so fascinating to her, that she decided to invest a career in becoming an acupuncturist. Amanda was fortunate to have obtained her master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the oldest acupuncture school in the US, the New England School of Acupuncture. Over the past five years, while studying at NESA Amanda had the opportunity to learn about the traditional theory of Chinese medicine. During her clinical internships she had amazing opportunities to work at various medical settings such as VA hospital in Bedford, Cambridge health Alliance in Malden and Lemuel Shattuck in Jamaica Plain. The favorable experience working in integrative settings in medical institutions led her to apply for the doctorate program in acupuncture and integrative health.
From the doctoral program of acupuncture and integrative health at MCPHS University, Amanda was able to learn the importance of combining multiple modalities to treat pain conditions and how beneficial it was to incorporate Oriental Medicine, while collaborating with medical providers.
Amanda was grateful to have worked in community style acupuncture at a busy clinic treating multiple patients an hour. The whole experience was rewarding and Amanda was able to gain lots of experience treating various conditions such as pain management, fertility and cancer.
Oriental medicine is something that Amanda feels extremely passionate about and feels privileged to be able to treat patients with.
Our bodies are quite adept at repairing themselves. We use methods that aid that natural ability with modalities like acupuncture, nutrition, laser therapy and physical manipulations, like myofascial release and cupping.
We believe many illnesses are caused by the toxins in our foods. Avoiding manufactured ingredients and pesticides reduces the harmful substances entering our bodies. Replacing them with cleaner, more organically grown food and natural plant remedies aids the body in healing itself and preventing future disease.
